Recovering from Anime Expo

I should give a full report.

The sun has taken its toll though, and I think I'm going to just give highlights. No pics yet...I'm a bit bummed about that, but not too much. Worst costume = Satoshi...but I loved it anyway. Favorite costume by far was Akito. Funnest costume was the one I wore the least though. ~pout~ I was Subaru on Saturday night...and we wound up staying out so late that I missed the CLAMP gathering entirely. Not that any of my group would have gone with me anyway. =/ I didn't want to go to another photo shoot with Anakin without anyone to help me with him, so sleep won.

I got to meet Greg Ayres, and now's the time I have to admit to total fan status as he's the coolest. Gotta love how introductions went Friday as he was rushing past. My darling (almost typed darkling XD), wonderful, sweet, beautiful girlfriend waved him over for a few minutes (which happened a *few* times over the weekend as he was kept too busy to eat all day...) and pointed to our other two friends. "These are the two I had you call," She said, then pointed to me, "and this is the girl you talked to in the bath tub." (If you missed that entry, check it out, it was funny.)

That's the point where I blushed to death. Isn't that just the craziest way to meet someone for the first time? It's got to be up there at least.

Anyway, he was really cool in person, and we finally got to spend some actual time with him on Sunday night while I was in my Akito costume. (And it was SO MUCH the most comfortable costume ever, as well as being well done.) We talked a while out in front of the Hilton, some creepy drunk guys tried to hit on us, one of them put his arm around me and ugh. Why does that always happen to me? After those guys finally got the hint and took off we headed inside and Greg signed a book for dark_is_the_sex (aka said wonderfully amazing girlfriend) and three DVDs I'd bought earlier that day. (DNAngel #1 and Spiral #2&3)

Of course, that was after we tried for two days to meet him where he was officially doing autographs at the ADV booth...both times he walked over with sincere regret that he couldn't get to us. Stupid timing. Stupid waiting in line for nothing. Worth it though. Especially since Saturday, the first time we were waiting in line, Vic Minonga walked up to dark_is_the_sex while she was in her Dark costume and said he should be asking for her autograph...and we didn't know who the fuck he was. ~laughs~ We went back to the hotel after that to drop stuff off and because I was in pain...and while the others went on without me (I wasn't invited, they needed to talk?) they headed back and tried to catch the end of the focus panel and couldn't get in because dark_is_the_sex forgot her badge, but they hung out outside the room and Vic signed her arm after Greg enlightened her as to who Vic was. ~laughs~

Of course, I can't forget Saturday night when I put on my Subaru costume and we went to the dance...and then skipped it and headed out to play with glow sticks out in the lawn. Some random guy ran over and literally jumped over me while I was sitting there, then ran back and took off with one of our glow sticks. We just about died laughing. Good times. Hanging out with kuroi_kaitou and peace_now was fun for the most part.

The Fruits Basket gathering was the awesomeness. It was hot and sunny and miserable, but we had a nice group and I got to pull a random Tohru's hair for pics. There was another Akito cosplayer there. Our costumes were the same color, same fabric for the outer robe/kimono. XD IMO, mine was better, of course. I'll back that up with pics when I get the chance. ~grin~ The hair pulling was my favorite part. It was nice being evil...I needed the outlet by that point.

I'm leaving the bad stuff out. Bad enough I cried myself to sleep Sunday night...but there doesn't need to be a record anywhere why there were bad feelings. I almost snapped a few times. I wish I could say the weekend was great, but I was fucking miserable about 90% of the time. So, let's just say it was there, but leave it at that.

Anakin was adorable but restless, and I'm glad I had my mom around for most of the time to take him/watch him for me. He wore a little Dark costume that dark_is_the_sex sewed for him by hand, including little black wings that were SO adorable. He's actually wearing the pants and shirt again right now. I think it's safe to say he loves it. <3 I also hand sewed him a Jedi costume that totally rocked. Everybody loved it, and he adores that one too. I had to keep fixing it though because the top would work its way loose from the belt a lot. ~snicker~ He tried to sneak into the Fruits Basket piccies with us while he was wearing it. I don't know how successful he was there. ~laughs~

That's the long and the short of it. Not nice and neat like most people, but that's cool. If anybody saw us, let me know and next time don't be shy! I'm shy enough for everyone else in the world, but I like talking to people, so.... ^_^
