Our lease is up in August...
Jun. 20th, 2008 03:10 pm...and we've already moved.
Let me tell you, it's been an interesting week. We found out last weekend that one of our neighbors got shot in the head over his car. This is the second time someone's been randomly killed in our complex over some stupid crime, and I don't know how many cars have turned up stolen from our complex lately. -_- Not the sort of environment I feel comfortable in, especially considering how many anti-drug and anti-gang and anti-crime-in-general papers we had to sign to get the apartment in the first place. It was fine for a couple of years, but FFS, I've had it!
(The papers signed included a "mold is your problem, just wipe it up you morons, it's not the management's responsibility" thing that I've been pissed off about ever since, since the mold is *inside* our walls.)
We've been planning on rooming with my brother and his wife for a few months, but figured it would wait until our lease is up. News of the murder lit a fire under our asses, though, and our direct next-door neighbors are also abandoning their little homes mid-month.
The icing on the cake, though, was the power going out on a nice, clear day, in the middle of the AZ summer. Again.
I'm pretty sure I posted about it when it happened last year. It turned out to be some construction gone awry. The power was off and on over two days--mostly off, though. Well, Wednesday morning the same thing happened. And, well, since last year our only compensation was a bag of fucking ice, that cinched it.
We're living in Goodyear now, goodbye to Tempe. Our beds are here, and our computers are here. Anything else is gravy. I guess I'm VERY lucky that my brother had a half-empty house and my sis-in-law is optimistic enough to think we won't kill each other after they lived with my sister for so long. At least she's used to my family's quirks? lol I'm a LOT like my brother, so we'll either get along great or she'll go nuts with two of us in the house. ^_^
If anyone needs my address for anything, let me know. I'll be off and on the computer for a while, while we're settling in. And, with my brother around to poke me about my stories I might be working more on my original stuff. (I *have* been working on some of it, but nothing I can post, and I'll admit that WoW has taken up most of the time I'd usually spend writing.)
So, that's an update on my life. How are the rest of you doing? lol
