Remembering something amusing...

I'll never forget one moment last year at AX. I was walking around all wide-eyed and innocent, just taking everything in and showing Anakin off...I was in my element and trying to figure out how to do things better for if I ever got a chance to do this again. (Obviously have. YAY!)

There was this guy wandering around in Slytherin robes. I was a bit surprised by this. Anime convention...why do we have wizards wandering around. Still, it was an awesome costume, and it made me smile. But, I heard these girls behind me just start bitching. How DARE he wander around not looking like an anime character? Didn't he KNOW? It's all about Japan, and this guy OBVIOUSLY didn't belong. He should be kicked out.

Right. Well. I made a mental note to never do anything so horrible myself...this guy must be such a newbie, right? But...there were so many other non-anime costumes still. I loved the showing of the local 501st...they had this totally kick-ass Anakin Skywalker, and we started talking. The rest of the con he'd wave to my Anakin, they'd greet each other, "Hi, Anakin!" It was great. So, I almost forgot what the girls had said...until the Masquerade.

That's right...the guy in the Slytherin robes? He was one of the expert judges in the Masquerade.

Guess who the newbies were?

No matter what you do, SOMEONE will bitch. SOMEONE will try to say you can't have fun so that they can feel smug and superior. And you know what? They don't matter. It's all for fun. Yeah, I could have done without Man Faye. Not for the reasons most people would think...I've seen worse looking guys in a lot less. I was uncomfortable with the spanking in front of Anakin. Rightfully so, since just a couple months later when Mars came over, Anakin went and spanked her before even asking her what her name was. At least she found it funny, right? I admire the guy's guts, and am amused by his statement. And, hell, it's kinda fun to be a little overboard with the revulsion. Does he *really* have to highlight his "package" with those shorts? And please, I don't want to see his ass with all the handprints on it, thanks. But...damn is he ever brave. I really admire his self-confidence. I could never do something like that.


SO! Who is going to AX this year? Who wants to meet up at some point? My costumes so far are Sumeragi Subaru, Inuyasha, Hiwatari Satoshi, Souma Akito, and Joulaim. Anakin is going to be Dark, a Jedi child, and we've got a couple of other costumes that aren't based on any specific characters but are still good costumes.

(The Akito costume is going to be pink. =/ Very pink. We thought we had a fabric that would work already, only to find out at the last minute that we *don't*. Oh well...at least I'll *have* it, right? Right.)

Anyway, look for me, or leave me a line here and we'll try to figure out when/how to meet up at some point! I'm looking forward to AX this year so much.

Oooh! Yay! I cosplayed Hokuto last year, but I really didn't know what I was doing so it looked pretty thrown together....

I'll try hard to be at the CLAMP gathering. It was great last year, so I don't want to miss it this year.

It would be cool to meet up. ^_^ Even if we don't really know each other, isn't that what cons are all about?

Did you do her black and white stripey outfit? I've only ever seen one Hokuto cosplay (pictures, anyway), and that's the costume they did...

And certainly! Would love to at least say hi ^_^ CLAMP gathering is at 11 on Sunday, FYI..at least, last I checked ._.;

I'll be there in an original Hokuto design - red velvet leopard-print turtleneck top with black satin pants and black high-heeled boots, tail, and kitty ears matching the top. My Subaru will be in the traditional black shirt and pants + short red jacket ensemble. We'll be sprucing that up with velvet as well (to match me) a red jeweled cross necklace and a pair of black english riding boots (also to match mine)...

I really do make a good Hokuto, planning my "brother's" clothing like this ^_^; We'll also have a vet Seishirou in black suit and red shirt, to match our red and black outfits...

We should be easy to spot ^^;;

On Saturday night I'll be in the red pajama Hokuto outfit - from the one illustration where she's in red, and Subaru is in blue.

That was my thrown-together Hokuto from the first volume when they're at Tokyo Tower. I have since actually *looked* at that chapter and improved on it. lol Still, it was a lot of fun. I'm half tempted to wear it again...without the stripy tights this time...but I've already got 5 costumes to wear and....

Yeah, my Subaru is the traditional version too. I'm saving that one for night time because it's got long sleeves, and I'm going to freeze to death as it is going from AZ to CA.

Can't wait. ^_^

Yep! That's my Anakin. <3 And he was with me the entire time...I didn't know any of the girls I was with well enough to impose on them to ask to watch him, so...

He got people asking to hug him at AniZona too. <3 I guess it's not just me being a mom, he really is that cute. hehehe

(Oh, how I wish he could be Loki again this year...but since my sister cut his hair it wouldn't be the same...)

I'm sure as hell going :) I'll be there all the days of the con, and the only real engagement I have is the Sakamoto Maaya concert (Saru really wants to go to it). Perhaps we could meet up at some point, if it doth please milady. I'm probably going to have a low-key room party once we figure out more about the con/hotel rules, so that might be an excellent opportunity.

I would *love* to meet up at some point. I don't know about the room party...you were talking about a doujinshi swap and I don't even own ANY. I'd feel so out of place. =/ Then again, it would be interesting anyway, even if I am the odd one out. ~grin~ My only plans so far are going to various cosplay gatherings for pics...I don't want to miss the CLAMP, DNAngel, or Fruits Basket ones especially. I'm also aiming to go to the AMV contest, but that one all depends on if we get tickets/want to wait in line for them. Somewhere in there, I hope we can find time to meet.

Ack! That's it, I'm gonna have a get-together independent of doujin stuffs! ^^ (So far just about everyone has rsvp'd with "I dunno, I don't have any doujin for you" :D) So I would be more than happy to make your acquaintance, but it does not necessarily have to be centered around doujin trading - I'll just make that a separate event.
